ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Delmar Maker District, a stretch of Delmar Boulevard between Kingshighway and Union, has seen a wave of more than a half dozen new restaurants open over the past year, making it a growing destination for food and community events.

A year ago, Dallas Holland opened Beyond Sweet, a bar and restaurant featuring a unique menu, cocktails and desserts. Since then, the restaurant has drawn steady crowds for brunches and upscale evening dining.

“We’re growing, and we can’t be stopped,” Holland said

Danni Eickenhorst, the owner of HUSTL Hospitality, opened new locations of The Fountain and Steve’s Hotdogs this summer just down the block from Holland’s restaurant.

“We’re starting to see people discovering the Delmar Maker District, and it’s been very exciting,” she said.

The Fountain and Steve’s Hotdogs are connected to the ABC Distillery, as well as another spot, Nixta, opening this weekend.

Ben Poremba, the owner of Nixta, is reopening the contemporary Mexican restaurant that was formerly in the Botanical Heights neighborhood.

Poremba also opened two other restaurants nearby this year, Esca and Florentin.

“I just want to celebrate the urban, glorious past of St. Louis to bring it back,” he said.

The district has built on its artistic attractions, like Third Degree Glass Factory, which hosts community events.

Third Degree cofounder Doug Auer sees more opportunities ahead.

“There’s a lot of momentum, and we just hope to keep that going,” he said. “This section of Delmar has the potential to be a big commercial district.”
