KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Andy Reid says Patrick Mahomes will practice starting Tuesday. They’ll see how he feels and go from there. “If he can’t work, Carson (Wentz) will take those reps… We have full confidence in Carson.” “If he’ll go, he’ll go. If he can’t, then he can’t. The Chiefs take on the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Saturday.

“This is about pushing it this week and seeing where I am,” said Mahomes. “You don’t want to put yourself in harm’s way and I don’t want to limit the game plan. Carson will be ready to go - he’s a very talented player. My hope is I’m ready to play, but we’ll see,” he said.

Andy Reid: Patrick Mahomes’ ankle “sore,” not broken

Patrick Mahomes hobbled off the field in the fourth quarter on Sunday afternoon after he was hit by multiple Cleveland Browns defenders.

Mahomes said he “got rolled up on” before needing help to get to the sideline.

“Tried to bounce back up but obviously it hurt a little bit,” Mahomes said after the game. “Now we’ll just get after the rehab part of it and try to get ready for next week.”

On Monday morning, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Mahomes was diagnosed with a mild high-ankle sprain and that he is still considered week-to-week.

Backup quarterback Carson Wentz went 2-2 after Mahomes sat from his injury.
