SLMPD chief breaks down crime-mapping tool for Baden neighborhood residents
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - SLMPD Robert Tracy made a presentation to North City residents about the department’s new crime-fighting tool on Monday.
Patricia Hofer attended Monday night’s community meeting at the Baden Library.
Hofer tells First Alert 4, “The town belongs to all of us right, so we can go anywhere and we can do anything and I wanna know what’s going on.”
Hofer traveled to the Baden neighborhood Library in north St. Louis to learn more about the city’s new crime-fighting tool.
Tracey says, “The more we talk, the more we all want the same things. And we’ll work together to be there.”
In October, SLMPD launched a new tool aimed at helping people in St. Louis City stay informed, providing up-to-date information on crime.
Chief Tracy is now taking it a step further by going out into the community and teaching residents how to use the tool.
“The crime mapping tool is something that helps build trust because it’s a more informed community. We’re not holding that information,” says Tracy.
Hofer says, “The citizen access to the Comp Stats is invaluable. I can share this with the whole neighborhood.”
Chief Tracy is encouraging people in St. Louis to log onto the website and do just that.
The crime mapping tool is updated every 24 hours, and the stats stay online for 6 months. s can filter their searches down to the exact location and day of the crime.
Officers in attendance also listened Baden residents' concerns and answered questions about safety.
Chief Tracy tells First Alert 4, “Each neighborhood has a unique issue, so you can’t cookie cut the whole city, so coming up here hearing firsthand, having my officers hear firsthand, we can work together and resolve some of the issues in the Baden neighborhood and the surrounding area.”
