Eureka family thankful to be alive after fire destroys home
EUREKA, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A family in Eureka is counting their blessings after all four escape uninjured from a large fire destroying their home.
The Biderman family called there home in The Legends Subdivision home for 14 years, but just before midnight on Friday, they watched as their house went up into flames.
A video surveillance camera captured the flames before firefighters arrived.
When The Eureka Fire Department received the call just before midnight, the home was full engulfed in flames.
“The garage was blowing huge flames out the side, her car was popping and blowing up and gas tanks were blowing up in there and drill batteries obviously,” said Geoff Biderman, homeowner.
Biderman said thankfully late bed time decision kept his family close.
“Since they were so tired we decided to put them in our room instead of my daughters which is right there with the pink pillow but thank god we did.”
His daughter’s room is right above the garage, where the fire department suspects the fire started.
Now, the Biderman family is left with nothing, but each other.
“Like I said we lost, my wife lost her wedding ring, I lost my phone, my work laptop. Literally a pair of shorts is all I own. So yeah I guess tomorrow we will be going out to buy some stuff. It’s just shocking to have to go get everything new ya know, kids and everything,” said Biderman.
As the Biderman’s look to start over, the community created a Go Fund Me to help them during their difficult time.
The families two dogs made it out safely, along with three cats. One cat did not make it due to the fire.
