ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A group of parents are teaming up to help the family of a girl who was hit and killed by a school bus in O’Fallon, Mo.

Amanda Flowers tells First Alert 4, “I don’t know how it will be received, but I hope that they feel honored and respected and just know that they’re loved.”

She and a group of Fort Zumwalt School District parents are rallying together to honor the 10-year-old girl hit and killed by a school bus.

The crash happened last Thursday at the intersection of Lupine and Snowbird in O’Fallon. Police and Fort Zumwalt schools aren’t releasing her identity - out of respect for her family

Amie Martin, Pastor of 80-20 United Methodist Church says, “I am just so thrilled, because this is restorative. And our church mission is to restore the community by living and loving like Jesus everywhere we go.”

The parents teamed up with the church to provide a place for people to come and donate, and a safe space for the victim’s classmates.

“We have a lot of families that have shared, you know, their experiences or how they’re feeling, and so, as Sarah said, it’s really just creating the space to be able to offer them to be and to share and to process,” Flowers said.

Even the smallest hands ed in, selling lemonade for donations and creating artwork to thank school staff.

Flowers says she wants the victim’s family to know this, “The community around them, truly does love and care and them, and that we’re here for them, and anything that we can do.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the victim’s family.
