Veterans honored at St. Louis Veterans Day Parade
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The rain didn’t keep people from honoring veterans at the St. Louis Regional Veterans Day Parade and Celebration in Downtown St. Louis on Saturday.
“We are here every year,” said Cathy Lake, AMVETS Auxiliary Post 6.
For the ladies at AMVETS Post 6, they stood proud to those who gave so much.
“You let them know that you care and that you are here for them,” Lake said. “They put their life on the line for us and it’s the least we could do for them.”
And for each of these women, there’s a deeper meaning as to why they were at the parade.
“My dad was a retired Navy veteran,” said Lynda Wade, AMVETS Auxiliary Post 6.
“My husband was in the Air Force, and my nephews in the Navy,” said Lake.
“I have a lot of nephews, nieces and great nieces and nephews now that are serving, following their uncles and their grandparents,” said Vicky Wertich, AMVETS Auxiliary Post 6. “This is the parade that has meaning.”
Even on a dreary day, Wertich said she wouldn’t miss a chance to say thank you.
“This is the parade that the whole country should be involved in and show their thanks and their for our veterans,” she said.
