APA Olivette waives adoption fees this weekend
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Animal Protective Association of Missouri is waiving all adoption fees at its location in Olivette because the shelter is at capacity.
While the shelter has a lot of animals, that’s not the main reason they are holding this adoption event.
The CEO and President of the APA, Sarah Javier, said they unexpectedly received two exotic cats.
“We are out of space,” she said. “So we are reaching out to the community to invite people to adopt and to incentivize people to or encourage adoption. We are waiving all adoption fees today through Sunday.”
The exotic cats are now in a room that would be used for the other animals, but out of safety for those animals and the employees, the shelter is keeping the cats away from others.
Javier said they have a contract with the county to help any animal when that time comes.
“We’ve had pets such as goats, chickens, a pig. Just not too long ago, you will recall, we had over 100 cats from a hoarding situation,” she said.
She said to help open up more space in the shelter this event was an immediate need.
“It not only puts these pets into a wonderful home with a loving family, it also creates space for another pet to get the care they need,” she said.
