ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Election season has kicked off as a busy one as many people are waiting in long lines to cast their ballot.

Now, two St. Louis organizations are working to make sure everyone can get out to vote, and that includes those who may not have transportation.

The Urban League Federation of Block Units and the A. Philip Randolph Institute are teaming up to offer free rides to voters this election season.

“If any member of the community wants a ride to the polls, they can call and just and then we’ll make a time and an appointment so that they get picked up and delivered back, taken back home,” said Farrakhan Shegog, Director of Federation of Block Units.

Shegog said this assistance is especially needed, but not limited to, the elderly, disabled and veterans.

“We know that on Election Day sometimes it can be long. It can be hectic. You can expect to be there for hour, but you end up being there for 2 and 1/2 hours so it’s important that we be mindful of that and try to encourage to them,” he said.

If you need a ride to the polls, you can call the Federation of Block Units at 314-562-0411. They will pick up anyone in the city and the county.

Also, Shegog said they are always taking volunteers to help drive voters to and from their polling location. If you would like to volunteer you can reach out to FBU.
