Cardinals hire Robert Cerfolio as Assistant General Manager, Player Development & Performance

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The St. Louis Cardinals announced that they hired Robert Cerfolio as the team’s Assistant General Manager, Player Development & Performance.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rob and his family to the Cardinals,” said John Mozeliak, Cardinals President of Baseball Operations. “His beliefs on player development and performance are aligned with where we want to go, and he’s been a key leader in an organization whose methods and systems have stayed at the forefront of the industry while still putting people first.”
Cerfolio, 32, s the Cardinals front office from the Cleveland Guardians organization, where he previously served as Director of player Development.
His other roles in Cleveland include:
- Assistant Director, Player Development (2019-21)
- Assistant, Player Development (2018-19)
- Amateur Scouting Assistant (2016-18)
- Baseball Operations and Player Development Intern (2015)
Cerfolio pitched three seasons at Yale University (2011-13). The Indian Springs, Ala. native was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 34th round of the 2013 MLB Draft but did not sign. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Medicine from Yale in 2014.
