Cardinals TV rights for 2025 unclear after Bally drops 2 teams
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Diamond Sports Group, the parent company that holds broadcast rights to the St. Louis Cardinals, dropped two teams Wednesday and indicated others might have to renegotiate.
Diamond dropped the contract for the Detroit Tigers and the Tampa Bay Rays, however, that move could still be open to renegotiation. The company said it intends to keep the contract for the Atlanta Braves for 2025.
The statements came during a hearing for Diamond on Wednesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. St. Louis is still under contract with Diamond through 2025, but the Cardinals could be asked to re-negotiate.
At Monday’s end-of-season press conference, Cardinals President Bill DeWitt III implied the team could go to a direct stream model.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated Bally Sports Midwest would not show Cardinals games in 2025.
