FORECAST

Thursday starts pleasant in the lower 60s, but a southerly breeze will help bring hotter afternoon air. It looks a touch more humid, too. Those heading to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, your tailgating stretch looks toasty and sunny. We will fall from the upper 80s to the lower 80s by kickoff.

This is all out ahead of our next cold front that comes in late Thursday. On that front, an isolated shower or thunderstorm will be possible. Our latest computer models keep that 30% chance from about 5-9 p.m. This all looks very spotty, so best-case scenario, these brief downpours or storms stay clear of the stadium complex.

Worst case, we briefly get driven into cars or under shelters if there is any lightning in the area. Still, it looks like a nice night for football with lower 80s at kickoff turning to lower 70s by the fourth quarter.

THE GAME

The Ravens will visit the Chiefs on Thursday night in a rematch of the AFC championship game to open the NFL season. The Chiefs won 17-10 in January to reach the Super Bowl, where they beat the 49ers to win their second straight title and third in a five-year span.
