‘It was scary’; neighbors survey the damage after EF-1 tornado touches down in Oakville
SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (First Alert 4) - An E-F1 tornado touched down in Oakville Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Monday, Tim King and his wife were vacuuming the pieces of glass after the tornado blew out eight of their car windows along Morningdale Place.
“There were some shingles inside the vehicle,” said King. “And all of a sudden, a big boom hit and that’s when all the windows in the truck and car blew out.”

The NWS says the twister stayed on the ground for 14 minutes and its path was 8.8 miles. It lifted near Columbia, Illinois.
“I don’t want to see it again,” said King. “It was scary.”
Brenda Aubuchon’s home was right in the route of Sunday’s destruction.
“Went down in the basement and by the time we made it in the basement, that’s when we heard all the rumble,” said Aubachon. “Now all the money that I have to come up with to get everything fixed.”
Her home sustained damage after a huge tree in her backyard snapped and landed on her awning. The winds also mangled her metal fence.
Across from Aubachon’s home, First Alert 4 spotted a white Dodge Charger with a tree branch on it and the back window busted out.
