Video shows suspects wanted for 15-year-old’s murder in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis homicide detectives are asking for help solving the murder of a 15-year-old girl.
The shooting took place in the 2700 block of Miami just after 11 p.m. on May 21, 2024. Dornae Hayes was found shot on a back porch at the intersection of Miami and Iowa. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, St. Louis police released a video showing individuals believed to be involved in the fatal shooting. According to police, the suspects left the area in an unknown vehicle after the murder.
Anyone with information that can assist police is encouraged to call the Homicide Division directly at 314-444-5371 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
Shortly after Hayes’ murder, Gravois Park neighbors told First Alert 4 that a group of teens often spent time on the back porch to charge their phones.
Christian Frommelt has called the Gravois Park neighborhood home for a decade.
“The loud speeding cars and the gunshots are what make it a little unnerving to be in the neighborhood,” Frommelt said. “The sort of backdrop of violence is there.”
Frommelt described hearing about 7-8 gunshots in a row.
“Because they were so close and because there were so many, I called 911, and then while I was on with the dispatcher, I heard a few more shots,” Frommelt said.
“It’s a horrible incident any time anybody dies, but especially a 15-year-old child,” Major Michael Mueller said at the time. “We all have children, and it’s a very tragic incident. A lot of the officers take that to heart.”
First Alert 4 looked deeper into crime stats, finding this is the second homicide in that neighborhood this year. Last year, there were nine homicides in Gravois Park.
This was the second homicide in the city in 2024 where a juvenile was the victim.
“A common trait of some of these shootings for teenagers to be involved in shows the vileness of the presence of guns and how they’re used,” Frommelt said.
That deadly shooting marked the 68th in 2024 in St. Louis City. That’s slightly above what we saw at this time last year when SLMPD reported 65 homicides.
Neighbors said gunfire is something they hear nearly every night in the neighborhood. However, that’s not their only concern. Other major concerns for neighbors First Alert 4 spoke to were decaying and vacant buildings.
First Alert 4 reached out to St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones’ office about those concerns and the abandoned St. Alexius Hospital just blocks away.
Mayor Jones’ office tells First Alert 4 they have been working for several months to hold the owners of St. Alexius able and the city plans to take action to secure the abandoned hospital with the of several different departments, including clearing the building of tresers and boarding up entry points on Friday, May 24.
Frommelt said community have been coming together to continue to improve the area.
“There’s a lot of people in Gravois Park who are working to make it a safer place for everyone,” Frommelt said.
We spoke to a member of Dornae’s family on social media who said she was a special girl who will be truly missed.
