MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (First Alert4) – Mike Bost fended off a primary challenge from former gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey Tuesday night.

Bost has represented Illinois’ 12th District since 2015. The district is geographically large and goes from parts of St. Clair County down to the Ohio River and east to the Indiana state line. Bost was endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

Bost declared victory just before 9:45 p.m. Bailey publically conceded around 10:00 p.m.

He is heavily favored to win the safe Republican seat in November.
