Teenager sentenced in shooting death of 14-year-old in South City

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - A teenager was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to the shooting death of a 14-year-old.

Maryon Jackson, of Florissant, was shot and killed on April 12, 2022, at the intersection of Missouri and Keokuk.

Tramon Belford, 17, was initially charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He pleaded guilty in December to a charge of involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison.

Charging documents stated that Belford and Jackson had both shot at people in a ing Ford Focus in the 3900 block of Missouri Avenue. The individuals in the Ford returned fire, shooting both Jackson and Belford.

Belford was 15 years old at the time of the shooting and was later certified as an adult.

Belford will get credit for more than a year of jail time served.
